Okay peeps I am going for a jaunt around Scotland (see attached map) - going to try out some wildcamping and if I pussy out will check in to hotels/b&bs/hostels as and when. Its about 1700miles and I might even do some of the Western Isles via ferry hopping.

Anyone interested?

I'd be interested in that :)

The Tiger would be back by then and I may well have a go on the KTM - will depend on how much of the magazine is left to do but I could take the laptop! B)

Just to be clear on my map - I would plan to go up the Eastern seaboard side and follow the route that way.

Some of the roads I/we will be riding :)

and see some sights such as Ardvreck Castle which is a ruined castle dating from the 16th century which stands on a rocky promontory jutting out into Loch Assynt in Sutherland, north west Highland, Scotland

East coast start huh :) I'd say that either way has its charms and the views are just amazing no matter what way you ride this - far too much to take in on a blast out and needs some serious interaction B)

I want to try and get a snap of a golden eagle for one

and I'd perhaps suggest getting the ferry over to the Orkney Isles for some whale spotting... plus a mandatory picture next to the town name of Twatt is a must for any serious rider.

Plus there is tonnes of stuff to see and do on the route :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am planning on riding Scotlands North Coast road in the 2nd week of September - roughly this route:

I am looking for good ideas for:

- recommended places to camp (either wild or paid-for)
- recommended "points of interest" along or reasonably near the route
- If there are any really recommended guest houses, B&Bs, hostels then offer them up
- brew/food stops worth dropping in on

Finally, if there are any people on the route who want to meet up for a natter over a cuppa, shout.

Mateski - I will be picking this up around the 3rd and have to have it back around the 11th. Will speak to KTM tomorrow but even if the dates clash I'm sure I can Iron Butt back a day early on the ride down again.

The route should prove a good testing ground - I have a few dates to check that may clash but I'm confident that I can work around them :brum:

 BUT, but, but!! Mum said I could!

You can take solace in the fact that I will cry when I have to give it back to KTM. :(

Plus I may only have a 4 day window so you could start without me and I'll catch you up
